On June 10, 2025, Dr. Hongfei Li, Assistant Professor at the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), gave a lecture at HIT titled “Causal Inference with Observational Data: A Comprehensive Guide to Quasi-Experiments.” He introduced the theoretical foundations and practical applications of quasi-experimental design, covering matching, regression discontinuity, difference-in-differences, and synthetic control methods. Dr. Li, who earned his PhD from the University of Connecticut, conducts research on business analytics, AI and machine learning in platform economies, and statistical methods for data-driven decision-making. His talk provided valuable insights into causal inference in empirical research.
