On April 11, 2025, Researcher Zhidong Cao from the National Key Laboratory of Multimodal Artificial Intelligence Systems at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited our university and delivered a special academic report titled Data-Intelligence Driven Social Computing. Researcher Cao is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and serves as the Chief Scientist for the New Generation Artificial Intelligence Major Project under the National Science and Technology Innovation 2030 Initiative. He has long been dedicated to cutting-edge research in social computing, big data analytics, and public health emergency management. As a leading scholar in China's social computing field, he has presided over more than 20 national-level research projects, published over 150 academic papers, and his research achievements have provided crucial technological support for pandemic prevention and control, social governance, and other major national needs. This visit delved into the latest advancements in social computing, an emerging interdisciplinary field. It systematically explained how technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence can be used to conduct refined research at three levels: micro-level individual behavior, meso-level group interactions, and macro-level social systems. The report particularly highlighted his team's innovative achievements in areas such as large-scale social simulation and intelligent decision support. Additionally, it explored new opportunities that intelligent technologies, represented by large language models, bring to social computing research.
Researcher Cao stated that data-intelligence technologies have broad application prospects in the fields of social governance and public health. He looks forward to in-depth collaboration with our university's eHealth Research Institute in areas such as intelligent healthcare and health big data analytics, to jointly promote the innovative application of these technologies in engineering practice. |
