Professor Seong Ki Mun visited the eHealth Research Institute, SOM, HIT.

Seong K Mun,  Korean - American, current director and professor of Arlington Health Innovation Center at Virginia Tech University, president and chief executive officer of Open Source Electronic Medical Record Alliance ( OSE HRA ), and academician of the US Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering. One of the most important founders in the field of telemedicine and health science in the United States, has presided over such far-reaching strategic projects as the U.S. Department of Defense Project Vanguard ( project funding: $ 12 million ). Professor Mun visited the institute from November 20 to 24, 2018 at the invitation of professor Guo xitong, professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Management, deputy director of the eHealth Research Institute, member of the preparatory group of School of Medicine and Health and executive director of Huizhou Data Science Academy.

During the visit, Professor Mun was welcomed by the school leaders Han Jiecai and Ding Xuemei, and talked with the exchange of students and faculty and academic research cooperation between the two universities. In addition, Professor Mun also accepted the memorandum of cooperation between the two universities signed by Vice President Han Jiecai, the letter of appointment issued by the academic advisory committee of the HIT-Alibaba Cloud Academy of Data Sciences, and signed a memorandum of cooperation between the Open Source Electronic Cases Alliance and the Academy of Data Sciences with Professor XitongGuo .

In addition, Professor Mun also conducted a report entitled  Health Care Reform in America and Health Information Technology for all interested teachers and students, and held a discussion with some teachers and students from eHealth Research Institute in two topics in detail: 1 ) The current development status and future trends of the US eHealth field; 2 ) Application of data science and AI technology in health field.

During the visit, Professor Mun represented Virginia Tech University and Open Source Electronic Cases Alliance in the United States, providing valuable opinions and suggestions for the development and construction of medical science, health science and data science in our university, signing some cooperation agreements and accepting the letter of appointment from the advisory committee, thus providing strong help for the future development of various disciplines. It promotes the eHealth Research Institute to better understand the development history and current situation of medical and health field, and points out a broader prospect and a clear direction for the future academic research. Nearly five days of communication were very short, but Professor Mun said he had had a very good time in Harbin. Leaders of university and teachers and students from institute all expressed their deep respect and gratitude for Professor Mun's great help.
