My work in progress is expanding upon my earlier group support systems (GSS) research and is taking new directions reoriented along three dimensions.  The first dimension extends GSS to address the needs of distributed groups in virtual organizations.  The second dimension is a re-emphasis of focus towards support for educational environments.  The third dimension extends to societal issues such as health with particular attention to sustaining wellness.  To move my research along these three dimensions, I have developed a research team of programmers, graphic artists, and Ph.D. students to create and evaluate on-line environments and organizations in a series of empirical studies.  This research is additionally exploring the application domain for mobile devices e.g., “smartphones.”  I also have sustained interest and on-going research in aspects of knowledge management and electronic business, particularly in the small and medium sized enterprise sector.
