To promote academic communication and international exchanges and cooperation, Professor Xitong Guo invited Professor Paulo Goes,the University of Arizona , making a presentation about big data in healthcare for teachers and students from the Institute of Electronic Health on June 16, 2014. Paulo Goes is the Salter Distinguished Professor of Management and Technology and the head of the Management Information Systems Department at the Eller College, University of Arizona. He received his PhD from the University of Rochester and was in the faculty of the University of Connecticut for a number of years before he joined the University of Arizona. Dr. Goes has been Senior Editor of Information Systems Research, and is or has recently been Associate Editor of Management Science, Decision Sciences, Journal of Management Information Systems, Production and Operations Management and the INFORMS Journal on Computing. On the conference, Professor Goes made a academic report entitled Innovation development of healthcare under big data environments ”. Professor Goes introduced the challenges and opportunities of healthcare under the background of big data, which from the perspective of the combination about big data and innovation to expand this concept. Then, he made a discussion from big data concepts, architecture, structural analysis, including the use of data mining, text mining, intelligent information and other traditional tools to processing large amounts of information and data identification. Finally, he discussed the application of technological innovation driven by big data,including exploring, explaining, predicting, Prescriptive from big data, then took a case of public health as an example to explain how big data is used in the healthcare. Finally, teachers and students of e-health institute had a great discussion with professor Goes. The report is very inspiring for all teachers and students.
